Report: Applications Drum Up Investments In The Artificial Intelligence Space in 2016 With Enabling Technologies Emerging As Most Investment-Friendly [569 Pages]

Alternative lending under fintech, and intelligent devices under consumer formed niche upcoming sectors that attracted heavy funding in the artificial intelligence landscape.

The average ticket size trend for infrastructure was not uniform-for Series A investments, it declined by 10% and rose marginally for Series B and by 55% for seed investments.

In the infrastructure space, top investments in the past year include Mobvoi’s Series D round of $180M and SenseTime’s Series C round of  $120M whereas in applications, Modernizing Machine’s PE round of $231M and Zoox’s Series A round of $200M constituted top investments. Tech Stars emerged one among the top investors for both applications and infrastructure along with Intel Capital for infrastructure and Y Combinator for applications.

The infrastructure and applications space saw one and three companies respectively go public in the last three years as 16 acquisitions dotted the infrastructure and applications space each.
