Fundraising round count fell by 63% in late as funding dollars surged by 153%.
Average ticket size rose by 13% in Series B while it fell by 58% in Series A and rose by 27% in seed. 8 acquisitions marked this space last year with Ritchie Bros. Auctioneers snapping up IronPlanet for $750M being the highest disclosed deal value.
Companies offering B2B ecommerce for industrial goods have historically been the most investment friendly drawing $1.36B till date. IDG Capital Partners, 500 Startups, K2VC etc have been the most active investors with dollars to the tune of $1.8B having been invested in this sector in 2016-17 YTD.
By stage of entry, 500 Startups led for seed, IDG Capital Partners for Series A, Accel Partners for Series B and Sequoia for later.
