Supply chain financing and supply chain visibility constituted the highest funded niche upcoming sectors in the space as top investments in 2016 included Infor’s PE round of $2B led by Koch Equity Development and Apttus’ Series D round of $88M.
Fund round count surged by 58% for late as it fell by 38% for seed. Funding dollars fell across the board-late fell by 18% and early by 36%.
There was a plunge in average ticket size across the board too-153% for seed, 89% for Series A and 58% for Series B.
16 acquisitions marked this space last year among which Panasonic buying Zetes for $155.7M was the highest disclosed deal value.
SCM software suits have historically drawn the most investment ($2.4B) with 63 companies operating on this business model till date. Battery Ventures, Saints Capital, Salesforce and Western Technology Investment emerged as the most active investors in this space with dollars to the tune of $2.39B being invested in this sector between 2016-17 YTD.
