The Season 7 of Game of Thrones is now hours away. While we await for the fantasy saga to further unfold and take us on a cinematic and emotional roller coaster, we wondered, what if our favourite Game of Thrones characters had the opportunity to invest in the real world startups? What would their fantasy portfolio be? Here’s our list of these characters, and one startup in which they’d be eager to invest, often becoming a life or death decision. Because Valar Morghulis, Valar Dohaeris, and Valar Investis.
Samwell Tarly
Sam the slayer has a hunger. For books, we mean. He might Moonwalk as a killer of White Walkers and Thenns, gathering knowledge is at the core of his existence. While Sammy is about to start his training as a Maester, the war is all but started in all parts of the world. And Jon could use some mind muscle. What would make Sam’s training faster? A product that sums up long books into quick abridged versions sounds about right. We found it.
Lyanna Mormont
Being the young lady of Bear Island and the head of House Mormont is difficult. More so, when you are a 12-year old girl. Lyanna spends all her time in taking care of her House and the islanders, she has no time and no obvious mentor, for her education or learning. Here’s a startup that’d give her the means to further her education, and make her a wise and ferocious leader of the house Mormont when she comes of age.
Davos Seaworth
Davos lost his son, his king, and his daughter in all but name, Shereen. And only one person is responsible for all these deaths, Melisandre. While Jon might have saved her from his ire, Davos would be keen to stay updated on Melisandre’s whereabouts, and if she’s entering North again. A startup able to recognize people’s faces is just the thing he’d put his gold into.
Sansa Stark
The elder Stark sister has had a journey only longer, but no less eventful, than her dead family members. From seeing her father’s beheading and humiliation at King’s Landing, to two miserably failed marriages and an old man seeking her hand, the girl has faced it all. Now that she is in no foreseeable danger, the girl could use some real love. That’s why we’ve found just the startup that she’d be happy to use, and invest into.
Cersei Lannister
Cersei is the Queen of the seven islands, for now. But as always, her attention is not in her subjects, but in her enemies. If she wants to keep her control on the realm, it will take more than the Mountain, or an army. What if Cersei could find a solution that listens to the voice of the people, analyzes it, and does a sentiment analysis? Looks like the startup we’ve found is going to get a lot of Lannister gold!
Jaime Lannister
Jaime is back to King’s Landing. And though he doesn’t like what he see, it’s time for him to stand by Cersei, hand in hand. Oh wait! With all the Lannister gold and no one to share it with, Jaime could make a lot of worthy investments. Top of the mind however would be a startup that replaces his decorative golden hand with a titanium-based 3D printed one that actually moves. Looks like we found just the company. But hurry up Jaime. Jon Snow
Jon has a lot on his plate, including unknown parentage, unruly countrymen, unmarried sister, and an unwanted second life. The last thing he needs is uncertainty on enemy strategy. Yes, we know the Boltons are gone. It’s the army of Wights that worries Jon. He doesn’t know what The Others do when they aren’t killing humans. Some insight into their life, societal construct or location might change the course of the upcoming war. We were thinking of a warging drone. The one which would do the ‘knowing’ for Jon. Ygritte will finally be at peace.
Tyrion Lannister
Everyone’s (except his family’s) favorite, Tyrion has made it this far mostly on his wits and knowledge. There’s little he expects from the world, except hoping it will be ready with a glass of fine wine just the way he likes. If there’s going to be a space Tyrion would invest into in his fantasy portfolio, we have found it. Here’s one to his favorite vice.
Daenerys Targaryen
While everyone’s rooting for Khaleesi to rule the Iron Throne, there’s an undercurrent of fear that what if she has the masochistic traits of the Mad King, as Tyrion once hinted at? It is important for the future queen to be in touch with her subjects, not just in King’s Landing, but with those in far away lands like Meereen and Essos. Here’s a startup she’d invest into to stay connected with her people, and thus keep at bay the infamous Targaryen madness.
Drogon
Let’s face it, bigger pets need more care, and Daenerys hasn’t been paying attention here. With so much to attend do for her, things like food for Drogon and her other dragons is probably often overlooked. And Drogon’s hunger pangs have escalated into political conflicts in the past. What if Drogon could have his supply of fresh meat assured? A startup like this would be his first investment, if dragons could invest.
Night King
Much can’t be said about the Night King. And much can’t be understood either. With the ‘war to end all wars’ brewing up, what if a political negotiation with the Night King leads to peace? What if The Others want something specific, and not the whole world, but are unable to communicate the same to the folks north of the wall? Hence, this startup is the perfect investment for the Night King, provided he understands the concept of money…
